In mid-October I went to the Nagoya Aquarium with my friend Paul. It was so cool, and different than US Aquariums. The tanks curved and went over our heads. I haven't been to an aquarium in a while, and its not too far by subway. They had some dolphin shows going on, and the underwater viewing area had really cool lighting. It felt so serene, even though it was pretty crowded. We also saw jellyfish, turtles, and other classic aquarium sights. The penguins looked kinda depressed; they had a small place to live. I think mentally I separate aquariums and the "SeaWorld" type places, but I think that's just because of my experiences in Aquariums.
The sights from the port itself were really cool too. Nagoya is still really industrial; barges past in the harbor frequently. It also had a cool park near by with a fountain. It was a pretty short trip; but it was worth it.
photos soon!
